Introduction to the Scout Section

The Scout Section of the 16th South Calcutta Kidderpore Academy Scout Group is dedicated to empowering young individuals with the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to become responsible citizens and future leaders. Open to boys and girls aged 10 to 17 years, the Scout Section focuses on outdoor adventure, teamwork, discipline, and community service.

As part of Bharat Scouts & Guides, we follow the principles laid down by Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the worldwide Scouting movement. Our motto, "Be Prepared", drives our Scouts to face challenges confidently and resilient.

History & Legacy

Founded on 14th July 1934, the 16th South Calcutta Kidderpore Academy Scout Group has a rich legacy of shaping young minds. Over the decades, the Scout Section has produced many skilled leaders who have contributed to society in various fields. Our group has participated in national and international scouting events, earning accolades for excellence in camping, pioneering, first aid, and adventure activities.

Activities & Training

The Scout Section offers a well-rounded program that blends adventure, skill-building, and community service. Our Scouts participate in the following activities:

1. Camping & Outdoor Survival

  • Regular camping trips to hills, forests, and national parks.

  • Training in tent pitching, fire-making, map reading, and survival skills.

  • Exposure to night treks and stargazing sessions.

2. Adventure & Pioneering

  • Rope climbing, rappelling, and river crossing.

  • Construction of bridges, watchtowers, and other pioneering structures.

  • Learning knot tying, lashings, and gadget making.

3. First Aid & Disaster Preparedness

  • Training in emergency response and CPR.

  • Conducting mock drills for earthquakes, fires, and floods.

  • Assisting in disaster relief operations.

4. Community Service & Social Responsibility

  • Participation in cleanliness drives, plantation programs, and awareness campaigns.

  • Volunteering at orphanages, old-age homes, and hospitals.

  • Spreading messages of environmental conservation and social harmony.

5. Scouting Skills & Badge Programs

  • Achieving proficiency badges in cooking, hiking, swimming, and signaling.

  • Advancement through Pravesh, Pratham Sopan, Dwitiya Sopan, Tritiya Sopan, Rajya Puraskar, and Rashtrapati Scout Awards.

Membership & Enrollment

Who Can Join?

Any boy aged 10-17 years can join the Scout Section of the 16th South Calcutta Kidderpore Academy Scout Group. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn, explore, and contribute to the community.

How to Join?

  1. Fill out the membership form available at our Group Headquarters.

  2. Attend an orientation session to understand our activities and rules.

  3. Complete the Pravesh (beginner) training within 3 months.

  4. Take the Scout Promise and officially become a Scout.
